Using POAPs to turn event participation into an interactive experience.
Using POAPs to turn event participation into an interactive experience.
MERGE Madrid sits at the intersection of European and Latin American Web3 communities, but like many conferences, much of the value can stay fragmented across stages, booths, and side moments.
POAP Studio built a passport-style collection layer that gave attendees a reason to keep moving, keep collecting, and keep progressing through the event instead of treating each touchpoint as an isolated stop.
MERGE needed a way to gamify participation without adding operational complexity, turning a traditional conference schedule into a clearer path that rewarded exploration and repeat engagement.
Attendees collected POAPs through NFC touchpoints across the venue and QR drops after key panels.
Each collectible moved participants closer to rewards, giving them a reason to keep exploring instead of drifting between moments.
Completing the journey unlocked VIP after-party access and discounts for MERGE Buenos Aires 2025, extending the activation beyond one event.
Merge Madrid showed how a collectible passport can turn event attendance into a clearer story of participation, progression, and community continuity.
Turned attendance into active collection behavior instead of passive session-hopping.
Created a clearer bridge between the European and Latin American sides of the MERGE community.
Built momentum for MERGE Buenos Aires 2025 through reward mechanics tied to completion.
