Cannes Tourism launched Explore Cannes to help visitors rediscover the city through a playful treasure hunt. POAPs were placed across landmarks, cultural sites, crypto-friendly venues, and the Tourist Office.
Visitors collected each digital souvenir with a smartphone, tracked progress in a POAP Studio passport, and could claim a gift after collecting four POAPs.
The city needed a simple way to turn discovery into participation, connecting iconic places, museums, crypto-friendly establishments, and visitor information into one accessible journey.
Visitors went to participating locations and looked for POAP markers on posters, windows, kiosks, or inside venues.
By bringing a smartphone close to the NFC marker, each visitor unlocked a POAP and added it to their digital passport.
After four collected POAPs, participants could return to the Tourist Office and claim a city gift while supplies lasted.
